A meeting ground of offices, retail, heritage and cafe.
Joseph Frangieh's goal for this Ipswich development is to lift the self esteem of Ipswich residents and business people by setting a high standard for others to emulate.
The changing face of the Ipswich CBD continues with a five-storey office building to be developed at 82 Roderick Street. It will retain the historic RACQ building on the corner of the street, but will change its alignment to face East Street.
Ipswich Mayor Paul Pisasale said the move was approved last week. "The developers Joseph Frangieh, InStyle Designer Homes, have told us the old RACQ headquarters would house either a retail store or cafe and remain an integral part of the new development of a five-storey commercial tower, which will take up the rest of the block," he said. "This development and one planned on the opposite side of Roderick Street on the site of the former Methodist Church at 86 East Street are in keeping with the strategic direction of the Ipswich CBD."
Division 7 Councillor Andrew Antoniolli said the recent development surge was proof of the confidence business people had in the city of Ipswich. "The five-storey commercial tower at 82 East Street and the promised new and unique business planned for the opposite corner are both in keeping with the Ipswich Central strategy," he said. "The developer at 86 East Street is currently in talks with Ipswich City Council to establish a new, unique and exciting retail business on the site. "These two developments will create a small hub which will include office and administration buildings together with heritage and the arts. "Such developments will further enhance proposed plans for the development of nearby Ipswich City Square."
